In contrast to Iris I,  I used heavy body acrylics  and a more traditional color palette, such as cadmium yellow and cadmium red, to create Iris II. This combination of paint qualities made it easier to build thicker layers and cover up areas.  I allowed parts of the red underpainting to peep through the cool blues and purples in the greens in the background, which created an unexpectedly rich and exciting texture.
